ILL Web Lending Setup Instructions

Prospective Interlibrary Loan Borrower Libraries who are not participants in the OCLC ILL Subsystem should contact the Kelvin Smith Library Access Services Department by e-mail at smithill@case.edu to set up a borrowing account in our ILLiad system:

  • You will be able to submit your ILL requests online directly, without filling out an ALA-form and without having to send by mail or fax.
  • Please provide your library name, up to 3 additional *shipping address lines, your voice phone and fax contact numbers, your institutional e-mail address, and whether you are an academic, public, corporate, or other non-academic library.
  • Please also indicate any arbitrary alphanumeric code or symbol from 3 to 6 characters in length, to serve as your login **Username. If you are an †OCLC member, but do not utilize the ILL Subsystem, we suggest that you use your OCLC symbol for this purpose.
  • We will contact you shortly thereafter to notify you of your **Username and temporary Password, and the URL at which you may begin submitting your ILL requests.

NB: To local outside users -- as an alternative to borrowing through ILL, you may prefer to check out books from KSL directly using your Cuyahoga County Public Library card (courtesy of OhioLINK), if this better suits your research needs.

*Whenever any service fees apply, we provide per-item invoices with the supplied material & thus do not require a separate billing address.

**Username may be modified at our discretion, if it duplicates one already in use by another library institution or contains unusable characters.  We will also assign a separate Username for each individual branch of the same library system wishing to set up an account (with its own shipping address); each location should then log in using its own unique Username and Password.

OCLC members may also search our policies at the OCLC Policies Directory. (Authorization and password required -- search "CWR")
